Basic Purpose

Vanguard Integrity Professionals has a unique position available for a Professional Services Consultant I. The incumbent has successfully completed our entry level training program and has demonstrated the skills necessary to advance into a full-time role. The qualified individual joins our highly qualified team of professionals as an entry level billable technical resource focused on solving complex customer problems.

Duties

During your role as a Professional Services Consultant I, you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Install and maintain Vanguard’s software solutions
  • Perform demonstrations of Vanguard’s software solutions to prospective Clients
  • Assist clients with evaluation of Vanguard software products within a Client’s environment
  • Analyze system and security standards against a defined baseline and produce clear documentation for delivery to a customer
  • With the assistance of more experienced consultants, propose technical changes to clients to reduce overall risk to the client’s enterprise
  • Recommend new business operations, systems, and policies to clients
  • Assist clients with knowledge transfer and training programs to educate users on security awareness, policy & standards, and procedures
  • Engage in continuous learning in the field of information security
  • Have satisfactory interactions with customers in all engagements
  • Works closely within Vanguard to communicate client product needs
  • Learn to provide consistent exercise of discretion and judgment, starting with leadership within the team
  • Transition from peer guided to being self-sufficient
  • Ability to complete a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction and on the job training in order to transition to a Professional Service Consultant II position within approximately 13 months of the date of full time level I employment
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications & Educational Requirements

  • Ability to acquire required skills to install and maintain Vanguard’s software solutions on a client’s environment
  • Demonstrate logical troubleshooting abilities to identify the root case of an issue
  • Communicate the root cause of an issue in a clear and concise manner
  • Easily acquire new skills and improve existing skills from a multifaceted and diverse skillset including; Systems, Security, Operation, Coding
  • Easily acquire new skills and improve existing skills for operating systems including: z/OS, z/VM, Linux, Windows, and Cloud services
  • Easily acquire new skills and improve existing skills for major subsystems and technologies utilized by Vanguard’s clients including: CICS, DB2, IMS, z/OSMF, Unix System Services, Networking Concepts, Java Server Pages, Relational Database
  • Easily acquire new skills and improve existing skills regarding Internal or External Security Managers (ACF2, RACF, Top Secret)
  • Learn methods of protection of sensitive data, including during transmission and while at rest
  • Ability to understand current regulatory requirements and the impacts to Vanguard’s customers, including; PCI-DSS, HiTrust, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST SP/STIG, CIS, OWASP
  • Ability to interface directly with clients as part of a consulting team
  • Ability to perform technical training and presentations to small groups
  • Excellent writing, editing, communications, presentation, human relations and interpersonal skills at a technical level
  • Ability to travel to customer’s location as determine by the Customer
  • Appropriate vendor certifications or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree preferred
